Shooting Stars
For SSAA Youth/Young Voices choir and String Orchestra/Piano
Line-up, style and pricing information
Commissioned by the Notting Hill and Ealing High School for their 150th anniversary, and premiered at Cadogan Hall, London in March 2024.
The text is adapted by me from a poem by NHEHS alumni and vivacious Edwardian writer, Violet Hunt, and celebrates youthful ambition and potential alongside community and mutual friendship. It's a vibrant, joyful and funky piece including pizzicato riffs in the string orchestra and a variety of fun textures and effects in the vocal parts. Plus body percussion!
It was originally written for Junior Choir and SSA but could work equally well for SSAA or SSSA.
If you're interested in performing this piece with string orchestra, lease contact me at kj_funk@hotmail.com to discuss obtaining string parts.
I can also provide a video demo of the body percussion.
